Where are the entrance and the exit?

The main access is via the beach crossing Strandstraße (Sylter Welle). The entrance at the beach crossing Brandenburger Straße (Sunset Beach) is mainly reserved for the athletes and the crew. Therefore please use the entrance via Strandstraße. Attention: The entrances are separated from the exits - pay attention to the signs! When leaving the event area you can choose your exit freely.

Am I allowed in the athlete area?

The athletes' area is marked and may not be entered by visitors: inside. This applies to the following areas:
- Launching Area (launching area and material storage on the beach).
- Material Tent
- Riders Lounge (North Promenade)
- VIP Area (North Promenade)

Do I have to pay tourist tax? How much is it?

As inalmost all German spa and recreation resorts, a spa tax (formerly Kurtaxe) islevied throughout the municipality of Sylt. In summer, the spa tax is € 3.70per day & person. Children under 18 are exempt from the spa tax. Day guestspay 4,00 € per day.

When will the Defender GKA World Cup Sylt take place?

The Defender GKA Kite-Surf World Cup Sylt will take place from 22-27.08.2023 at the promenade of Westerland. The event starts on these days at 10:00 and ends officially at 22:00. Meanwhile, both the competitions and the social program will take place.

When will the award ceremony take place?

The official award ceremony will take place on the last day of the event. This year it will be on August 27th.

Are there sanitary facilities on the premises?

Additional sanitary facilities will be provided during the event period.

Are there any parking facilities nearby?

Visitors are asked to use the designated parking areas around the boardwalk.
